Goal: Your news team has been sent back in time to 1502 and has landed in the Aztec Empire. Your job is to send news reports to the future to draw comparisons between the events in the Spanish/Aztec conflicts to modern day clashes.
Role: News reporters sent back in time.
Audience: General news watching public.
Situation: You must analyze the biases of records and sources concerning this conflict. Also, you must create objective broadcasts detailing the connections between the Spanish conquests and modern day conquests.
Product/Presentation: You will create a news reports showing connections between events during this cultural clash and those today. For each event or result covered, examine and explain biases in the records and connect this to the coverage of modern conflicts.
Standards (criteria from both rubrics): Presentation: 7-10 minutes and will be evaluated on overall quality, creativity, objectivity, accuracy, and the examination of source biases.

You are a news reporter that has been sent back in time by the BBC to the year 1502 CE. You and your news team are required by the BBC to cover the Spanish invasion of the Aztec Empire. Your assignment is to send back weekly news reports to the modern day audience back in 2008 CE. These news reports are supposed to inform the general public of the cross cultural interactions and changes that are occurring within the cultures of the Spanish and Aztecs respectively. You must also relate this conflict to the issues we face in the moder world that arise from cross cultural interactions and clashes such as the global War on Terror.
